Measures

Eco approach at the spa hotel

Some of the measures we take which are designed to protect the environment include adopting recycling methods and using low impact cleaning detergents and energy-saving light bulbs. Most of our bedroom furniture is made from locally-sourced materials and, rather than changing bed sheets daily, we offer in-house laundry only on request.

We also work to minimize energy use. Many of our pools are solar heated and we are passionate about reducing light pollution, especially at night. This initiative is an issue close to the heart of our Spa Director, Patrizia Bortolin, who is a member of the International Dark Skies Association which works to protect the night skies for present and future generations.

Skincare Products

Preidlhof’s sustainability continues into our very own ultra-effective organic, vegan skincare products. We have a new signature range which is made from a high concentration of botanical and biotechnological active ingredients that respect the environment and biodiversity. These new products feature in a new facial treatment at Preidlhof’s Spa and are also available for purchase in the Spa, on the website, and at other select retailers.

Functional ingredients include stem cells of chilli pepper, prickly pear seed extract and edelweiss. A mix of fruits was added to the stem cells, the raw materials selected from those produced in specialised areas in Italy to guarantee the highest quality of basic ingredients: organic grape skins from Emilia, Sicilian lemon, apples from Trentino and organic wheat bran from the Po Valley.

Our kitchen harnesses close relationships with the gastronomic culture and traditions of South Tyrol enabling Preidlhof to offer guests a series of zero carbon products, including eggs, olive oil and apples. Meanwhile, we grow, cultivate and harvest many regional delicacies ourselves. We make our own bread, honey, jam and air-dried speck. Much of our food left-overs are given to local farmers for feeding their pigs. Lucky things!
